Visiere Hero Faceshield – Serving Our Front Lines With Innovation

HERO

PROTECTIVE FACESHIELD

On March 13, the province of Quebec declared a health emergency due to the global Covid-19 pandemic. Shortly after the implementation of this exceptional measure, researchers from the Center hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM) asked for the help and agility of the Optimoule team in order to design a reliable and safe for personnel struggling to stop the spread of the virus.

In just 23 days, the Thetford Mines company Optimoule refocused part of its activities to design the tools and launch the production of the HERO Faceshield Visor, which is now distributed in the Health and social services, dentists’ offices, school boards, manufacturing companies and businesses.

DESCRIPTION

OF THE PRODUCT

The HERO faceshield is used to protect the face from splashes of body fluids. It can be used by health sector staff in hospitals, dentists and veterinarians, but also by all workers who have direct or indirect contact with customers.

ADVANTAGES AND

PRODUCT DETAILS

The faceshield frame is made of recyclable plastic. Its comfort is attributable to its extreme lightness (45 g) (less than the weight of an egg), the flexibility of the frame and the ventilation hatch on the top.

The HERO faceshield offers enough clearance to be comfortable with glasses and a mask, as well as dentists’ magnifying glasses. It is also large enough to protect the face and neck.

The HERO faceshield is made up of three quick to assemble and disassemble parts: the screen, the frame and the adjustable cord.

Inexpensive and available: the HERO faceshield has been designed to be accessible and reusable. Designed, manufactured, and supplied in Canada.

Due to the flexibility and elastic attachment of the frame, the faceshield can be worn by any individual, regardless of their morphology. It is still possible to customize the product at the request of the customer.

Wearing the HERO faceshield is a recommended visor and face covering by Health Canada and the National Institute of Public Health of Quebec.

ECOFRIENDLY

The HERO visor is designed and manufactured in Canada and is fully reusable and recyclable. In addition, the frame is made of recycled plastic.

INSTRUCTIONS

The HERO Faceshield is worn on the forehead and retained by an elastic cord. The frame is fitted with a 0.178 mm thick screen allowing for several hours of comfort and an area large enough to cover the face. The visor offers enough clearance to wear glasses, magnifying glasses and a mask.

Each individual wearer is responsible for cleaning their visor.  The faceshield needs to be soaked in warm soapy water, rinsed and then sponged with a soft cloth. If you ever doubt the safety of the faceshield or its ability to be cleaned, please dispose of it in your recycling bin.

The Hero Faceshield is above all a preventive device and in no way constitutes immunity to any type of virus.

PROTECTING US!

The HERO Faceshield can be worn by healthcare personnel in hospitals, dentists and veterinarians, but also by all workers who have direct or indirect contact with customers.

We need to remind ourselves that wearing this faceshield must be part of a set of hygiene and physical / social distancing protocol recommended by the National Institute of Public Health of Quebec and by Health Canada.

PROTECTIVE

MEASURES

Studies have shown that full-face visors provide better protection for the eyes than surgical masks with screens or N95 masks with goggles.

However, wearing a face shield or a visor in no way replaces all of the implementations and protocols recommended by Health Canada.

WEARING A SINGLE VISOR POSSIBLE
IN CASE OF SECURITY RISKS

If for any reason fogging of the glasses, faceshield, or  the wearing of the mask or a face-covering compromises the safety of the workers  (despite searching for technical solutions to remedy the problem), the wearing of the faceshield should be considered a last resort among safety protocols.
